Oscar Sound Winners Announced

In a night filled with great expectations—and surprising losses—for a number of hotly tipped films, this year’s Academy Awards telecast served up deserving plaudits for the Sound Editing and Mixing categories.

1917 is the Oscars 2020 winner for Sound Mixing! Congratulations to Mark Taylor and Stuart Wilson on their first Oscar win. Taylor has been nominated for three Oscars and Wilson has been nominated for six. Other nominees for Sound Mixing included AD ASTRA, FORD V FERRARI, JOKER, and ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD.

The film is set during World War I, as two British soldiers are sent on a dangerous mission to stop an attack by the British 7th Division that will result in a massacre by the Germans. Their assignment takes on extra urgency as one of the young soldiers’ brothers is fighting in that Division.

FORD V FERRARI is the Oscars 2020 winner for Sound Editing! Congratulations to Donald Sylvester on his first Oscar win. This is also Donald’s first Oscar nomination. He has worked on other big box office movies like THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, THE HATE U GIVE, LOVE SIMON, and many more.

In the film, visionary auto designer Carroll Shelby and race car driver Ken Miles team up to build a high-performance race car for the Ford Motor Company, hoping to defy the odds and defeat the dominant Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans.

The 92nd Oscars were held on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Dolby® Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and were televised live on ABC and in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
